Allison E. Gaffey is a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow in the Basic and Biobehavioral Research Branch of the Behavioral Research Program at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Prior to her fellowship, Ms. Gaffey graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2006, with a B.A. degree in Psychology. Her interests within the field include mechanisms of social support, biobehavioral influences on health, psychosocial factors of health behavior change, stress and coping, and the role of sleep in modulating the emotional, immunological, cognitive and biobehavioral effects on health. She plans to attend graduate school to pursue her Ph.D. degree in Psychology with a concentration in behavioral medicine. Following research on behavior change in adult cancer survivors through the Lance Armstrong Fund, she continues to be personally invested in issues regarding cancer survivorship through the Yale-New Haven Hospital Hero’s Clinic and Yale University.
