Speaker Bios



Jan A. Moynihan, Ph.D.

Dr. Jan A. Moynihan is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Microbiology and Immunology, and Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York. Dr. Moynihan received her B.A. degree in Biology from the University of Rochester and did graduate study in Integrative Biology at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. She received an M.S. degree and was awarded her Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from the University of Rochester. Dr. Moynihan's clinical, scholarly, and teaching interests lie in psychoneuroimmunology. She is a member of the American Association of Immunologists and the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator (PI) on a project funded by the Public Health Service (PHS), studying the effects of stress in mice that are immunocompromised and either skin grafted or infected with virus. She also is the PI on another PHS-funded grant that investigates the effects of endogenous opioids produced by stressed mice on type 1 and type 2 cytokine production and immune effector mechanisms.
