The NCI is committed to speeding the development of new diagnostic tests, cancer treatments, and other interventions that benefit people with cancer and people at risk for cancer. Such development relies on strong translational research collaborations between basic and clinical scientists to generate novel approaches.
In support of this goal, this ehealth SBIR/STTR Program encourages small businesses and non-profit organizations to use media technology to translate cancer research into innovative programs, interventions, systems, networks, and other products needed by health care professionals or the public to reduce cancer risks, promote participating in screening, provide treatment options, or address the needs of cancer survivors.
The research priorities of this program are based on:
- The annual NCI report – ‘The Nation's Investment in Cancer Research'
- Congressional mandates
- Recommendations from health care professionals and the public
