School Nutrition and Physical Activity Policies, Obesogenic Behaviors and Weight Outcomes and the Social Ecological Framework

School Nutrition and Physical Activity Policies, Obesogenic Behaviors and Weight Outcomes and the Social Ecological Framework

The Social Ecological Framework (1-3) is one of several frameworks that can be used to examine the interrelations among polices aimed at the school and home environment, individual diet and physical activity behaviors and weight outcomes. The framework shows how individual behavior results from the interaction with various environmental and policy influences. This figure provides a visual representation of a framework for policy strategies conducted across multiple levels with the goal of reducing childhood obesity.
